My name is Eric Busch. I’m a historian, writer, and digital project manager. I own and operate Historicity Consulting Services, a multi-service historical research, writing, and digital projects agency. Previously, I served as a Mellon Postdoctoral Fellow in Digital Scholarship at Southwestern University, and a digital project manager, editor and archivist at UT Austin's Dolph Briscoe Center for American History. Major projects include the William P. Clements Texas Papers digital archive, a 3-year, $1.2 million digital archive curated from the papers of the former Texas governor. I hold a Ph.D. in American History from the University of Texas at Austin, where I studied under the direction of American historian H.W. Brands.
My own scholarly interests include 20th century urban and environmental transformation in the American West, as well as the history of American politics and consumer culture. My forthcoming book, published by the University of Nevada Press, focuses on the growth and development of Denver, Colorado, with particular emphasis on the city's dynamic and changing relationships to its mountain and plains hinterlands. I’m a member of the American Historical Association, the Organization of American Historians, the Oral History Association, and the National Council for Public History, among other professional organizations. Check out more of my own scholarly work at my personal website, ericbusch.org.
Why choose me over other historical consultants? As an experienced project manager, I have a demonstrated track record of using proven methodologies and management practices to scope, plan and build scholarly digital projects from the ground up. As an veteran teacher and learning specialist, I know how to design and execute engaging and educational public history projects. As a trained oral historian, I know how to prepare and conduct effective interviews, and how to integrate research from human subjects with primary and secondary sources. And finally, as an experienced researcher on behalf of the UT Environmental Law Clinic and others, I am prepared to get the answers you need for planning and litigation purposes.
So who’s “we,” then? When it comes to your projects, I don’t work alone. I partner with a number of accomplished designers, video editors, website builders and IT specialists to ensure that your project is executed to the highest and most exacting professional standards.
